We are Busy!

For Daniel's Father's Day gift, I took him to an Astros game. We actually had really great seats. We were in row 36, but towards the end of the game, we moved up to row 10. Unfortunately, Reece did not go with us. It is really loud down there, and I don't think she would have made it through the whole game. Especially since it went into extra innings!Being this close was a first (and probably a last!) for us. I think this is Lidge pitching. It was a really close game, but in the 11th inning, we lost to the Oakland Athletics (what kind of a name is that, anyway!!)

A couple days after the game, Reece and I embarked on our first road trip together (well, we did go to Dallas once before this, but that was a little different.) This is Reece in her first hotel room. We shared a bed!! But, neither one of us really slept that much!
We went in one vhicle to Oklahoma (6 hours away) with 3 adults, one 7 month old, one 10 month old, a 4 year old and a 7 year old. It was a crowd!! This is Reece's cousin Rowan.

The next few pictures are random, but fun.

Reece loves her Daddy!

Our dog is so weird! He is not allowed on the couch, but Daniel is a softy when it comes to this rule. And I guess he's not really on the couch, he's on Daniel! The two of them took a long nap together like this! Is a 100 pound dog still considered a lap dog?

Reece is NOT a boy, but she looks so cute in her cap!

I've been trying to capture her new facial expression on camera all week, and this is the best I've gotten so far. She squenches up her nose and puckers her lips every time is is frustrated, which is a lot lately since she is trying to crawl. I know she's not happy when she does this, but it's SO cute! Reece got her first pair of sandals! She's ready for summer!

Reece's First Swim

We finally got to take Reece swimming in Grandmama and Grandad's pool! The water was really cold, (Christian, my 7 year old nephew had to push me in) but Reece really enjoyed the water. She wasn't laughing and splashing wildly, but she was entertained. My mom watches her while I'm at work, and they have been swimming several times after this. She's even been dunked under water! We'll have her loving the water by the end of the summer.

Six Months and Some Firsts

Reece is growing up so fast and doing so many new things, I feel like I can't keep up with this blog fast enough! I realize that you people don't need to know everything that goes on in the Perez lives, but it is fun to share! She is also becoming a ham. Every time I get the camera out, she flashes her million dollar, toothless grin.
This is Reece's first experience with sweet potatoes. We have now moved on to carrots and even applesauce. Oh, but don't even mention the word "yams" around her...it was a bad experience for the both of us.
This is Reece's 6 month picture taken on May 12. The day before, she had her first fever of 101. It is not fun having a sick baby. So much for sleeping through the night!!
My first Mother's Day and Reece's dedication day! She was feeling a little bit better. The fever was gone, but the day after this she started with a really bad cold complete with runny nose, cough and sneezing. Will we ever sleep again!?! It is in those moments of a crying baby at 2AM that I should just let Daniel sleep through it. The other night (at 2AM), he said, "One child is enough for us!" I think it was just the sleepiness talking! :)

Happy Belated Mother's Day

My Mom sent me a really sweet Mother's Day card, and this is what it said:

Being a Mother means loving more that you knew you could love,

giving more that you knew you could give,

it means receiving so much more in return...

It means sharing a connection that keeps surprising you

with its depth and strength.

Being a mother means knowing that whatever else you did or didn't do,

you gave the world something beautiful.

I love being a mother!!

Five month picture

This is Reece's five month picture. We went and got her pictures taken on her 5 month birthday (a few weeks back). She wasn't in the greatest mood, but we got a few good ones. We went to Portrait Innovations. They are really good there.

Tribute to Uncle Philip

One of Reece's uncles goes to Harvard, and we just wanted to let him know that we are thinking of him and Reece is so excited to see him again. Even though she doesn't get to see him and some of her other aunts, we talk to her about them and we know she will love being with them next time they're here.
They say drooling on your shirt is a sign of intelligence...right? Surely she is on her way to Harvard! And notice how well Reece is sitting up! She really gets her feelings hurt, though, if she falls backwards.
Reece had her first experience at the park the other day. I'm not sure if she enjoyed the swinging (maybe she has her mother's motion sickness problem).
But, I'm pretty sure she enjoyed the slide with her daddy! I think she is smiling in this picture.

On another note, a lot of people ask me what is Reece like, or what kind of personality does she have. To answer this question, I would say she is definitely laid back. With her mom working part-time, she never really has the same schedule from day to day, and I think she handles it pretty well. Not that she is thrilled to be away from her mom and dad, but she usually adjusts. She has a great sense of humor. She laughs a lot and smiles all day. She particularly finds her dog Culby very funny. Whether he is running around the house or rolling around on the floor, he always cracks her up. Daniel says she is a little stubborn because sometimes she doesn't easily go to sleep. And, she usually tolerates being with other people pretty well, but she is by far and mommy/daddy's girl!!

Silly Girl

Reece really loves it when we blow in her hair. She just thinks it's the funniest thing!
One day I'm going to have to hair-spray it up like that!
Reece in our flower garden. We are having beautiful weather here. I feel guilty if I keep her inside all day. By the way, she is sitting up on her own now! I'm amazed everyday at how fast she is growing. It seems that she started sitting up all the time all in one day!
